SEC Football: Each team’s toughest road game during 2022 season
By Matt Melton
As you’d expect, the 2022 SEC Football season will bring a few challenging road tests for each of the conferences 14 teams. Which road matchup set on the schedule will be the toughest for each SEC Football team this season? (NOTE: This list does not include neutral-site matchups)
Each SEC Football teams toughest road game during the 2022 season
Alabama – @ Ole Miss on November 12
While there are a couple of different road matchups that you could make an argument for the defending SEC Football champions, Alabama traveling to Oxford a week after a game against LSU in Baton Rouge could be tough. A matchup that Alabama has dominated historically, as well as having won three of the last four games in Oxford (lost 23-17 in 2014), the Crimson Tide however have struggled at times defensively allowing 40+ points in two of the last three meetings at Ole Miss.
Arkansas – @ BYU on October 15
The first-ever meeting between Arkansas and BYU, the Razorbacks will travel to LaVell Edwards Stadium in mid-October for the first matchup of a home-and-home between the two teams (BYU comes to Fayetteville in 2023). The Cougars are coming off a 10-3 season in 2021, one in which BYU ended the year with a 31-28 loss to UAB in the Independence Bowl.
Auburn – @ Georgia on October 8
The Deep South’s oldest rivalry, Auburn has not won a game in Athens since 2005 where the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 31-30. The Tigers have also lost five-straight to the Bulldogs, with Auburn’s last win over Georgia coming inside Jordan-Hare back in 2017.
Florida – @ Texas A&M on November 5
Only a week after their annual matchup with Georgia in Jacksonville, the Gators will travel to College Station for only the third time ever, as well as only the sixth meeting all-time between the two schools (Texas A&M leads all-time series 3-2). The Gators and Aggies did play fairly recently however back in 2020, a game in which Texas A&M won 41-38 at Kyle Field.
