A player who spent two seasons in Fayetteville in 2016-17 and 2017-18, Daryl Macon make a significant impact on Arkansas Basketball during his short time with the Razorbacks. Looking back on those two years as well, it’s clear that Macon was one of the more talented scorers that the Razorbacks have seen in recent memory.

Looking back at the Arkansas Basketball career of Daryl Macon

One of the nation’s top JUCO prospects back in 2016 out of Holmes Community College in Goodman, MS, Macon was one of the top names in the Razorbacks 2016 recruiting class, one that ranked fifth in the SEC.

A day one impact player for Arkansas Basketball, the 6-foot-3 guard would go-on to appear in a total of 36 games during the 2016-17 season, 21 of which were starts. Averaging a total of 25.2 minutes per game during his first season in Fayetteville, Macon would average an impressive 13.4 PPG, 2.6 RPG, and 2.2 APG on 45.3%/38.7%/86.6% shooting, ranking second in scoring for a Razorbacks team that reached the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

One of the top scoring guards in the SEC entering the 2017-18 season, Macon would then average an impressive 16.8 PPG, 2.9 RPG, and 3.9 APG for the Razorbacks that season, ranking second once again in scoring for an Arkansas team that made the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.

A First Team All-SEC selection at seasons end, as well as selected to the First Team All-SEC Tournament Team, Macon would start in 30-of-35 games for the Razorbacks during the 2017-18 season. Averaging 30.9 minutes per game, Macon would also improve his three-point percentage by shooting 42.1% from deep, as well as shooting 87.5% from the free throw line (led SEC).

For his Arkansas career overall, Macon would appear in a total of 71 games for the Razorbacks (51 starts), averaging a combined 15.1 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 3.1 APG during his two seasons in Fayetteville. Macon would also shoot a combined 45%/40.5%/87.1% during his time with the Razorbacks, and would eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his Arkansas career toward the end of the 2017-18 season.

After his time at Arkansas, Macon would go undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, and would sign with the Dallas Mavericks for the 2018-19 season where he split time between the NBA and G-League. Macon would do the same during the 2019-20 season with the Miami Heat, and has since spent time playing overseas in various different leagues.
