Defensive Name to Know – DT Jaheim Oatis

Similar to Niblack previously, Oatis is not the highest-rated commit in the Crimson Tide’s 2022 class on the defensive side of the ball. Could he make the biggest immediate impact of the group however? 100%.

A four-star defensive lineman out of Columbia High School in Mississippi, Oatis is simply the next player in the long line of run stoppers on Alabama’s defensive front.

At 6-foot-4 and 370 pounds, Oatis impressed throughout the spring in Tuscaloosa, and could be tough to keep off the field in 2022 based on his ability to stop the run game. If you were to simply think of a comparison for Oatis and what he could do for the Crimson Tide, look no further than former Alabama defensive tackle Terrance Cody.

In addition to Oatis, two of Alabama’s other 2022 defensive commits in five-star’s Jeremiah Alexander and Jihaad Campbell are also certainly names to know. Campbell could see time at inside linebacker this season, while Alexander is undoubtedly the name to takeover as the starter when Will Anderson Jr departs for the NFL.
