If there is one guarantee that we have seen in recent years from the Alabama Football wide receiver room, it is that speed often dominates in today’s college football.
From names such as Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith, as well as just last year with Jameson Williams, the Crimson Tide’s wide receiver room has had some playmakers in recent years with truly elite-level speed that we have seen time-and-time again make a difference on the field.
Well, the Crimson Tide may have landed the next member of that group on Friday afternoon when Alabama Football received a commitment from Louisville transfer wideout Tyler Harrell.
Louisville transfer Tyler Harrell brings elite speed to Alabama Football
What is Harrell set to bring to the Crimson Tide offense in 2022? You guessed it, speed.
A former three-star prospect out of Columbus High School in Miami, FL, the redshirt junior has spent since the 2018 season at Louisville, but truly began to emerge a year ago. Appearing in 13 games, Harrell would catch a total of 18 passes for 523 yards and six touchdowns for the Cardinals, averaging an eye-popping 29.1 yards per catch in the process.
At 6-foot and 197 pounds, Harrell will give the Crimson Tide offense the ability to continue to spread the field out, as well as an experienced downfield option for quarterback Bryce Young. As mentioned previously as well, Harrell’s speed could certainly prove to be a difference maker for this Alabama Football wide receiver room where he instantly comes to Tuscaloosa as one of the fastest players of the group.
Looking back at the transfer portal as well, this is the Crimson Tide’s fifth addition overall this offseason, as well as the second wide receiver joining former Georgia wideout Jermaine Burton. Both Burton and Harrell are expected to play significant roles for the Crimson Tide in 2022, with both likely among Alabama’s receiving leaders this upcoming season.
