For a program that has garnered the label of “DBU,” LSU Football has certainly seen its fair share of elite talent at the cornerback and safety positions come through Baton Rouge in recent years. When looking at that lengthy list of talent for the Tigers, where does Tre’Davious White rank among LSU’s all-time great defensive backs?

Looking back at the LSU Football career of Tre’Davious White

A highly-touted in-state prospect out of Green Oaks High School, White would originally come to Baton Rouge as arguably the top name from the Tigers 2013 recruiting class, one that ranked sixth nationally. Coming to LSU with high expectations, White would certainly deliver from the start as one of the SEC’s top freshman defensive backs.

Taking over the starting job for the Tigers at cornerback early in the year, White would collect a total of 55 tackles with two interceptions during the 2013 season, earning Freshman All-SEC honors in the process. That success would carry over to his sophomore season as well, with White totaling 33 tackles with two more interceptions in 2014 for one of the SEC’s top defenses, as well as becoming one of the conference’s top punt returners.

After starting at cornerback for both of his first two seasons in Baton Rouge, White would receive All-SEC honors for the first time in 2015 as a junior, named to the Second Team after collecting a combined 44 tackles with a team-high seven PBU’s. At the conclusion of that season as well, White would choose to return to LSU for his senior season, one which saw the Louisiana native as one of college football’s top players.

Starting for the Tigers once again, White would collect a total of 35 tackles from the cornerback position, while also recording two interceptions and a phenomenal 14 PBU’s which led the SEC. Because of this, White would receive multiple honors at seasons end that included First Team All-American and First Team All-SEC, as well as named a consensus All-American.

For his LSU Football career overall, White would collect a total of 167 tackles, 34 PBU’s, and six interceptions during his time in Baton Rouge, while also returning 69 punts from 2014-16 for a total of 688 yards and three touchdowns. Entering the 2017 NFL Draft at the conclusion of his senior season, White would go-on to be selected with the No. 27 overall pick in the first round of that draft by the Buffalo Bills.

Having spent his entire five-year NFL career with Buffalo up to this point, White has appeared in a total of 72 games across that span in which he has collected 279 career tackles and 16 interceptions. A two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, White is entering his sixth season with the Bills in 2022.
