One of the biggest talking points around college football for the last couple of months has obviously been the transfer portal, with SEC Football and its 14 teams having made numerous additions across that span. Based on those additions as well, which five SEC Football teams are the biggest transfer portal winners of the offseason?

5. South Carolina Gamecocks

Transfer Additions:

  • QB Spencer Rattler
  • TE Austin Stogner
  • WR Antwane Wells
  • S Devonni Reed
  • RB Christian Beal-Smith
  • RB Lovasea Carroll
  • WR Corey Rucker
  • DL Terrell Dawkins
  • TE Nate Adkins

We begin with South Carolina, a team that added one of the most-notable transfers of the offseason in former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler. The likely starter for the Gamecocks in 2022, Rattler has the potential to be one of SEC Football’s top quarterbacks this upcoming season, and comes from Oklahoma alongside transfer tight end Austin Stogner who should also play a significant role.

In addition to those two, the Gamecocks have also added three receiving options in Antwane Wells, Corey Rucker, and Nate Adkins, with both Wells and Rucker likely to be among South Carolina’s top receivers in 2022. Wake Forest transfer Christian Beal-Smith comes to South Carolina as an experienced option at the running back position, while Georgia transfer Lovasea Carroll could be set for a breakout campaign.

As for the defense, Central Michigan transfer Devonni Reed is an experienced option likely to play a key role from day one, coming to Colombia with a career 281 tackles across four years. NC State transfer Terrell Dawkins will likely do the same along the defensive front, with the potential to be one of the Gamecocks top pass rushers.
