The NFC West is the most competitive division in football. The Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers battled it out for the NFC crown, with the Rams not only winning that contest, but also going on to win the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for our purposes, the NFC West ignored SEC Football when it came to the NFL Draft. We do have a few picks to discuss however, so let’s dive in.

Which SEC Football players were drafted by NFC West teams in the 2022 NFL Draft?

Seattle Seahawks

  • Round 1 Pick 9: Mississippi State OT Charles Cross

Many around the NFL thought that the Seattle Seahawks would target a quarterback here in the first round. Not only did the Seahawks bypass the quarterback position in the 1st round, but they did so during the entire draft. The Seahawks knew that they had a glaring weakness at the offensive tackle position, so they targeted Mississippi State OT Charles Cross. Many around the league thought Cross was the most pro-ready pass-blocker. Matriculating from the pass-heavy Bulldogs offense, Cross will be ready to step in and start from day one.

San Francisco 49ers

  • Round 3 Pick 93: LSU RB Tyrion Davis-Price

Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers know how to develop running backs as well as any team in the NFL. Tyrion Davis-Price may not be a household name yet, but the selection of the former LSU Tiger in the 3rd round should not be laughed off as inconsequential. Davis-Price is a size/speed prospect that has impressed scouts around the league. Remember, Raheem Mostert left San Francisco for the Miami Dolphins in free agency, so there is an opportunity here behind Elijah Mitchell. Tyrion Davis-Price can develop into the type of player that the 49ers brass thought that they had drafted in Trey Sermon.
