Looking back at the prep talent in the state of Texas in early-2010’s, there may not have been a more-intriguing prospect than Ricky Seals-Jones. An elite athlete who originally committed to Texas back in 2012, Seals-Jones would however de-commit from the Longhorns and sign with Texas A&M Football, where he would go-on to have a four-year collegiate career with the Aggies.
Looking back at the Texas A&M Football career of Ricky Seals-Jones
As mentioned previously, Seals-Jones was rated as a five-star prospect out of Sealy High School in Texas, as well as one of the top overall athletes in the Class of 2013. A player who saw time at multiple different positions in high school, Seals-Jones would however transition fully to wide receiver once in College Station, a position where the 6-foot-5, 240 pounder was a matchup problem for opposing defenses at times.
Looking at his first year however, Seals-Jones would only appear in a total of two games with the Aggies before suffering an injury, catching three passes for 84 yards and a score. Redshirting that season, Seals-Jones would return in 2014 to enjoy a breakout redshirt freshman campaign as one of the Aggies top receivers, catching a career-high 49 passes (eighth in SEC) for 465 yards and four touchdowns.
Coming off that strong 2014 season, the former five-star would go-on to post yet another impressive stat-line in 2015, catching 45 passes for a career-high 560 yards and four touchdowns. Following that season, Seals-Jones would then go-on to catch a total of 26 passes for 333 yards and a touchdown in 2016, and would enter the NFL Draft at seasons end.
For his Texas A&M career overall, Seals-Jones would appear in a total of 39 career games with the Aggies across a total of four seasons. During that span, Seals-Jones would catch a total of 123 passes for 1,442 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Seals-Jones would go undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, and would sign as a free agent shortly after with the Arizona Cardinals. Since 2017, Seals-Jones has spent time with four different teams in the NFL catching a career 90 passes for 1,044 yards and 10 touchdowns, and enters the 2022 season with the New York Giants, his first with the organization.
