2. Alabama vs Texas

Alabama has always received criticism for their non-conference schedule.

But in recent years they have scheduled tougher and have absolutely blown the competition out of the water.

Bama beat USC, Miami, Louisville, and Florida State all in neutral site games proving that giving Saban eight months to prepare is a formula for disaster for the other team.

In week 2, they’ll look to do the same to a Texas Longhorn team that is trying to find their footing with second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Alabama brings back plenty of talent from last years team, including the Heisman Trophy winner, Bryce Young.

Young will have to build rapport with his new receivers after John Metchie and Jameson Williams left for the NFL.

They also bring back unanimous All-American outside linebacker Will Anderson who won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

Texas also has some talent of their own to help them compete in a game like this.

Bijan Robinson is one of the best running backs in the nation. He’ll have to find his groove for the Longhorns to have any chance in this game.

It is even more important that they find a running game to help out their quarterback who is still to be determined.

Running effectively will keep the ball out of Young’s hands and the explosive Alabama offense on the sideline.

Alabama is built off of their passing game. The 2021 Crimson Tide had the least productive rushing offense in the Saban era so if Texas can take advantage of that aspect of the game then they could be competitive.

The Crimson Tide and Longhorns have only faced each other 9 times in their storied histories.

Texas leads the series, 7 wins to 1 loss and 1 tie. Their only loss came in the 2010 BCS National Championship game.

The college football world will get to see this rare matchup between blue bloods headline in week 2.
