The Golden State Warriors will play the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals, a series that features numerous former SEC Basketball players. This is the Warriors sixth Finals appearance in the last eight years and the first appearance for the Celtics since 2008.

While the Warriors bring a ton of Finals experience with them, the Boston Celtics, despite being in the Eastern Conference, are the only team with a winning record against the Warriors this year.

And the Celtics also have the best record against the Warriors during the Steve Kerr era.

In what looks to be a competitive series, here’s an overview of players in the Finals from SEC Basketball.

Which former SEC Basketball players are in the 2022 NBA Finals?

Boston Celtics

  • C Al Horford, Florida
  • PF Grant Williams, Tennessee
  • C Robert Williams, Texas A&M
  • SF Aaron Nesmith, Vanderbilt
  • C Luke Kornet, Vanderbilt
  • SF Matt Ryan, Vanderbilt

Golden State Warriors

  • SG Moses Moody, Arkansas
  • PG Chris Chiozza, Florida
  • SG Quinndary Weatherspoon, Mississippi State

A few of these players are two-way guys that we probably won’t see during this series. But Moses Moody, Robert Williams, Grant Williams, and Al Horford should all have an impact on the Finals.

Moses Moody is one of the Warriors rookies taken in the lottery and will try to give them a spark.

For the Celtics, we’ll notice Al Horford and Robert Williams protecting the paint and trying to prevent Kevon Looney doing to them what he did to the Mavericks.

And Grant Williams will attempt to spread the floor by continuing his hot shooting from the 3-point-line.

Taking a deeper look at these four, these former SEC Basketball players may be the surprise X-factors of this years Finals and will try to get their teams over the hump.
