Fayetteville, AR – The Arkansas Basketball program has the #2 Recruiting Class in 2022. One of those athletes from a small town in Alabama called Mobile is Barry Dunning Jr., a 6’6 small forward with a high ceiling. Dunning Jr. helped lead his high school team at McGill-Toolen to the State Playoffs this past season.
Looking at Arkansas Basketball incoming freshman Barry Dunning Jr
Dunning’s high school career stats of over 1,000 rebounds and1,800+ points show he’s definitely ready for the SEC. Dunning has won several big-time awards in his high school career such 2x back to back Alabama Gatorade POY, Mr. Basketball in Alabama and All-State Honors, AL.com’s Coastal Alabama Player of the Year and Class 6A Player of the Year. Dunning Jr. was also named the Alabama MVP in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
Dunning Jr. has also started a non-profit program called OTC Mental Health Awareness (OTC meaning on the court off the court). The Mission is to educate the youth and student athletes about mental heath in our community. By raising awareness, fighting stigma, providing support and advocating for equal care.

The skills that Dunning Jr. has allows him to score at will, and is a rim protector, can shoot anywhere on the floor, and involves his teammates. If the game isn’t going his teams way and they are down, he can take over a game. Dunning Jr. will need to use all his skills while playing in the SEC where he will go up against stiff competition. I’m sure Coach Musselman and staff will have him ready.
Coach Eric Musselman and his staff have a real talent in Dunning Jr.. Also graduating from McGill-Toolen with a 3.3 GPA, the coaching staff doesn’t have worry about Dunning getting in the classroom. Dunning is already on campus as of today getting in training and enrolled in classes.
