Kayshon Boutte followed in the footsteps of SEC Football superstar receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson and has continued the legacy of LSU Tigers at the position. Following a disappointing 2021, it’s time to check the NFL Draft stock of the dynamic Kayshon Boutte.

Positives:

The first thing that is crystal clear is that Kayshon Boutte is a natural catcher. Boutte plucks the ball out of the air and excels on 50/50 opportunities.

Kayshon Boutte is a savvy route runner and separates well from would-be defenders. LSU has moved Boutte across the formation, so he has experience outside and in the slot.

Listed at 6’0 and 205 lbs. – Kayshon Boutte plays bigger than his size would suggest. Boutte excels playing through contact. Boutte uses his unique physicality as a steady blocker in the run game.

Negatives:

We mentioned in the opening that the 2021 season was a disappointing one for Kayshon Boutte. The primary culprit was injuries that caused Boutte to miss several games, and the ones he didn’t miss, he wasn’t the same player. Some lingering concerns are entering the 2022 campaign that Kayshon Boutte could become an injury-prone player.

Kayshon Boutte has several remarkable performances in his young career, including a 300-yard receiving game. The problem is that he has disappeared for several games during his career. Kayshon Boutte can solidify his 1st round draft stock if he can develop more consistency.

Overall:

The 2022 season will go a long way in defining exactly what type of prospect Kayshon Boutte is. College football fans and fans of Boutte are hopeful he can return to the form he displayed in a breakthrough 2020 season.

Unfortunately, if Kayshon Boutte suffers another injury and his 2022 season comes off the track, he could see his draft stock plummet.
