One of the nation’s top cornerback recruits in the 2023 class, five-star AJ Harris has announced his commitment to Georgia Football, giving the Bulldogs their first five-star commitment of the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Five-star CB AJ Harris commits to Georgia Football

A significant pickup for the Bulldogs on the defensive side of the ball, Harris is rated as a five-star prospect, as well as the No. 25 overall player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

Attending Central High School in Phenix City, AL, Harris is also rated as the No. 5 overall player in the state of Alabama, as well as the No. 5 overall cornerback in the country.

A talented playmaker at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Harris has spent the previous two seasons at Glenwood High School in Phenix City, AL where the five-star has seen time on both sides of the ball. Looking back at the 2021 season as well, Harris accounted for over 400 yards of total offense, 30+ tackles on defense, and a significant impact on special teams to earn All-State honors.

A highly-touted cornerback recruit, Harris held offers from upwards of 30 collegiate programs, and committed to the Bulldogs over notable schools such as Alabama, Clemson, and Florida.

With the addition of Harris, Georgia Football’s 2023 class now holds a total of 10 commitments, with Harris as the second to come from the state of Alabama joining three-star offensive lineman RyQueze McElderry. In addition to that, Harris is not only the Bulldogs highest-rated commit in the 2023 class, but also their third Top 100 recruit joining four-star tight end Pearce Spurlin and four-star offensive lineman Bo Hughley.

Looking ahead as well, Harris has the potential to make an impact from day one in Athens, at the minimum likely being an impact player on special teams as a freshman. However, with starting cornerback Kelee Ringo likely off to the NFL after this upcoming season, don’t necessarily count out Harris competing for a starting job in 2023.
