NFL Talent

The amount of NFL talent on the field that Saturday was so high it felt like the viewers at home were actually watching a regular NFL game.

Both teams combined for 9 first round picks in 2020 with LSU having 5 players selected and Alabama with 4.

Najee Harris, who rushed for 1,200 yards in his rookie season and was the 2021 first round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, led the game in rushing with 146 yards on the ground.

But LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (first round pick to the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs in 2020) wasn’t too shabby either rushing for 103 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns on the ground. He also added 77 receiving yards and another touchdown through the air.

Devonta Smith, who would become the 2020 Heisman trophy winner, led the game in receiving with 7 receptions for 213 yards and 2 scores.

In 2019, Smith was a part of one of the greatest wide receiver rooms in college football history.

Jaylen Waddle (who now holds the NFL record for receptions by a rookie with 104), Henry Ruggs, Jerry Juedy, and Smith all became 1st round picks and in 2019 against LSU they combined for 374 receiving yards.
