The Quarterbacks

What made this game different from the years prior was the elite quarterback play. Burrow and Tagovailoa were the first quarterbacks off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft and made their presence felt.

In previous iterations of the series, both teams, but especially LSU, struggled to move the ball through the air.

But in the 2019 clash, Burrow threw for 393 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions, which was enough to withstand Tagovailoa’s 418 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.

At the time it was the most points an Alabama Nick Saban defense had given up.

It’s very rare that viewers are gifted with seeing the top quarterback prospects face off in college, and that is just another reason why this game was so special.
