The Aftermath

The next week LSU was ranked number 1 for the first time since 2011.

The Tigers would then go on to complete their undefeated season at 15-0 and became National Champions. They secured wins against No. 4 Georgia, No. 4 Oklahoma, and No. 3 Clemson to finish the season.

They ended the year with seven top-10 victories, four of which came against teams ranked in the top 5.

Alabama would go on to win their next couple of games before losing in the Iron Bowl to Auburn, 48-45.

This landed them in the Citrus Bowl where they beat Michigan 35-16.

Now it has been three years since we saw the Second Game of the Century. Most if not all of the players who played in the game are gone, and in the NFL.

Brian Kelly is now the coach at LSU and Saban is still kicking at Alabama having won the National Championship again in 2020.

It’s not guaranteed we see another game like this in the near future.

But for the college football fans out there, don’t lose hope, because prior to the 2019 season nobody would’ve predicted this game would have the impact that it did.
