Coming off a 9-4 season in which they were one of the SEC’s most exciting teams, there is no denying how big of an impact the quarterback position had on Arkansas Football’s success a year ago. As the Razorbacks now return one of the SEC’s top quarterbacks in 2022 as well, what does the remainder of the Arkansas depth chart look like at the position?

Arkansas Football 2022 Season Preview: Quarterbacks

KJ Jefferson

Cemented as the Razorbacks starting quarterback entering 2022, Jefferson returns to Fayetteville for his redshirt junior season as one of the SEC’s top overall players at the position.

After seeing limited action during his first two seasons at Arkansas, Jefferson enjoyed a massive breakout season a year ago, completing 67.3% of his passes for 2,676 yards with a 21:4 TD:INT. One of the SEC’s top dual-threat quarterbacks as well, the 6-foot-3, 245 pounder also impressed on the ground, rushing for 664 yards and six touchdowns with an average of 4.5 YPC.

Now entering his fourth season at Arkansas, all eyes will be on Jefferson in 2022 to see if the redshirt junior can either duplicate or build off his successful 2021 campaign. A player with all the tools needed to do just that as well, if Jefferson were to take another step in 2022, could the Razorbacks signal caller be a potential sleeper Heisman Trophy candidate this fall?

Regardless of that, Jefferson is likely set for another special season in 2022, one in which he will lead a Razorbacks team that could be among the best in the SEC West.
