Arkansas Football 2022 Season Preview: Quarterbacks
By Matt Melton
Cade Fortin
Speaking of the Razorbacks backup quarterback position, Hornsby is not the only name to know entering the 2022 season. The other name in that conversation is that of Fortin, a redshirt senior who transferred to Arkansas during the offseason.
A player who originally began his collegiate career at North Carolina back in 2018, Fortin would enter the transfer portal prior to the 2019 season, and would end up transferring to South Florida. Limited in action in 2020 as a redshirt sophomore due to injury, Fortin would also see limited action with the Bulls in 2021, completing 25-of-48 passes for 183 yards and two interceptions, while also rushing for a touchdown.
The 6-foot-3, 222 pound redshirt senior could very easily see time with the Razorbacks in 2022. However, it will most likely come in limited action, with Fortin sitting behind both Jefferson and Hornsby on the depth chart.
Kade Renfro
Alongside both Jefferson and Hornsby, Renfro is another name that returns for Arkansas Football this season at the quarterback position.
A former three-star prospect out of high school, Renfro originally began his collegiate career at Ole Miss in 2020 before transferring to Arkansas prior to the 2021 season. The redshirt sophomore did not see time in either season for the Rebels or Razorbacks, and likely enters 2022 fourth on the Arkansas Football quarterback depth chart.
