One of the more versatile tight ends in recent SEC history, Evan Engram was a four-year impact player at the position from 2013-16 for Ole Miss Football. Looking back at the former Rebels star now, where does Engram’s time in Oxford rank among the conference’s top tight ends of all-time?

Looking back at the Ole Miss Football career of Evan Engram

A three-star prospect out of Hillgrove High School in Georgia, Engram came to Ole Miss as a member of the Rebels 2013 class, one that was among the best in the SEC. Looking back at that class now as well, Engram you could argue was one of the more notable names to come from that group, alongside Robert Nkemdiche, Laremy Tunsil, and Laquon Treadwell, each of which were five-star prospects.

Making an impact from day one in Oxford, Engram would catch a total of 21 passes as a freshman in 2013, translating to 268 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Receiving honors that included Second Team All-SEC, Engram would go on to enter the 2014 season with multiple preseason honors, coming on both a conference and national level.

Engram would deliver on that billing as well in 2014, catching 38 passes for 662 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore to rank among the conference’s top tight ends in a few statistical categories. Ranking No. 7 in the SEC with a 17.4 YPC that season, Engram would also be named First Team All-SEC at seasons end, as well as receive a few All-American honors.

Receiving numerous preseason honors once again, Engram would once again enjoy a strong season in 2015 as a junior, catching 38 passes for the second consecutive season for 462 yards and two touchdowns. A Second Team All-SEC selection, Engram would bypass the 2016 NFL Draft at seasons end as well, and would return to Ole Miss where he would post one of the best seasons the SEC has seen from a tight end.

Included in that 2016 season for Engram was a total of 65 receptions (No. 4 in SEC) for a total of 926 yards (No. 5 in SEC) and eight touchdowns (No. 5 in SEC). A First Team All-American, Engram would also receive First Team All-SEC honors once again, as well as win the Ozzie Newsome award which was awarded to the top tight end in college football.

Engram’s time in Oxford would come to a close at the conclusion of the 2016 season, as the former three-star would be selected with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Looking back at his time with the Rebels as well, Engram would catch a total of 162 passes from 2013-16, translating to 2,320 yards and 15 touchdowns, each of which rank first among tight end’s in Ole Miss Football history.
