While his time in College Station came before Texas A&M officially joined the SEC, Ryan Tannehill is still a known name by fans within the conference. A player who began his time with the Aggies at wide receiver before transitioning to quarterback, here is a look back at the Texas A&M Football career of Tannehill.

Looking back at the Texas A&M Football career of Ryan Tannehill

Tannehill originally came to Texas A&M in the Aggies 2007 class as a three-star prospect out of in-state Big Spring High School. Once in College Station however, Tannehill would redshirt the 2007 season, and after competing for the starting quarterback position in fall camp prior to his 2008 redshirt freshman season, the former three-star would transition to wide receiver where he would make a significant impact for the Aggies.

Leading the Aggies in receiving, Tannehill would catch a total of 55 passes for 844 yards and five touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2008, while also completing his lone pass attempted for eight yards. After his success in 2008, Tannehill would remain at wide receiver for the Aggies in 2009 as well, making a similar impact for Texas A&M.

Totaling 46 receptions for 609 yards and four touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore, Tannehill would see time at quarterback as well in 2009, completing four-of-eight passes for 60 yards. In 2010 however, Tannehill would once again begin the year as a wide receiver catching 11 passes for 143 yards and a score, but would transition full-time to quarterback midway through the year where he completed 65% of his passes for 1,638 yards with a 13:6 TD:INT, along with rushing for 76 yards and a score.

Tannehill would remain at quarterback in 2011 as a senior, completing 61.6% of his passes for 3,744 yards with a 29:15 TD:INT. Rushing for a total of 306 yards and four touchdowns as well, Tannehill would also rank No. 9 nationally in pass completions as a senior with 327 total, and would enter the 2012 NFL Draft at seasons end where he was selected with the No. 8 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins.

For his Texas A&M Football career overall, Tannehill would throw for a combined 5,450 yards with a 42:21 TD:INT from 2008-11, while also rushing for a total of 369 yards and five scores on the ground. Tannehill would also total 112 receptions during that span, translating to 1,596 yards and 10 touchdowns.
