The month of July was an eventful one on the recruiting trail for two SEC Basketball programs in particular, while a few others also enjoyed strong months. Who were those teams, and who were some of the biggest names who committed to SEC Basketball programs during July?

July Commits

  • 5-star SF Justin Edwards

Currently holding SEC Basketball’s top 2023 recruiting class, Kentucky added to what was already a strong group during the month of July by landing Edwards, the Wildcats third five-star commit of the 2023 cycle.

Attending Imhotep Institute (PA), Edwards is considered as a top five player nationally, as well as the No. 1 overall small forward in the 2023 class. A player in the conversation for the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class as well, Edwards simply has everything that you would look for in an elite two-way wing at 6-foot-7, and projects to be a day one starter in Lexington as one of the SEC’s top freshmen in 2023-24.

As mentioned previously as well, Edwards is the Wildcats third commit of the 2023 cycle, joining fellow five-stars Robert Dillingham and Reed Sheppard. For what was an already strong 2023 class for Kentucky, the addition of Edwards during July simply only added to a group that is shaping up to be one of the nation’s best this cycle.
