South Carolina Gamecocks

July Commits

  • 5-star PF GG Jackson

The other notable SEC Basketball recruiting winner during July was South Carolina and new head coach Lamont Paris as the Gamecocks added Jackson, a name who was arguably the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class.

A five-star prospect who had previously been committed to North Carolina, Jackson announced along with his commitment that he would be reclassifying to the 2022 class, and would join the Gamecocks for the upcoming 2022-23 season. A local product out of Ridge View High School in Columbia, Jackson is the Gamecocks third commit in the 2022 class, and comes to South Carolina as the highest-rated recruit in program history.

A talented forward at 6-foot-9 as well, Jackson is set to be a focal point for the Gamecocks this season on both ends of the floor as South Carolina’s starting power forward. Is Jackson the single biggest recruiting win in basketball program history for South Carolina?
