No. 4: 2021-22 National Championship Game

Last year’s championship game and rematch of the 2017-18 National Championship Game comes in at No. 4 on the list.

At this point, Alabama and Georgia have built a bit of a rivalry on the big stage.

The head coach of Georgia, Kirby Smart, was a former assistant under Nick Saban for 11 years at LSU, the Miami Dolphins, and Alabama.

He looked to become the second assistant to beat Saban and avenge his last 3 losses again the Tide (2017-18 CFP National Championship Game, 2018 SEC Championship Game, and 2021 SEC Championship Game).

The first half was a battle of field goals and slow offensively unlike the SEC Championship game played between the two teams a month earlier.

With just over 3 minutes to go in the third quarter, the Bulldogs shifted momentum by blocking a 48-yard field goal attempt.

They then drove down for the first touchdown of the game to go up 13-9 entering the fourth quarter.

Alabama answered later with a field goal to make it 13-12.

A little bit later the Crimson Tide scored their first touchdown of the game after forcing a fumble from Georgia quarterback, Stetson Bennett.

But Georgia scored 20 unanswered points to finish out the rest of the fourth quarter and capture the National Title.

Smart became the second Saban assistant to win the National Championship, and Georgia ended their 40 year National Championship drought.

After 3 huge losses, the Bulldogs finally got the monkey off their back making this game an all-time classic.
