SEC Football: Georgia, LSU among biggest July recruiting winners

The month of July was an action packed one on the recruiting trail for SEC Football, with a total of 10 teams from within the conference landing at-least five commitments from July 1-31. Looking at that group, who were some of the biggest winners on the recruiting trail during July, and who were some of the biggest names to commit to SEC Football teams during that span?

The Bulldogs once again concluded the month with SEC Football’s highest-ranked 2023 class (have since been passed by Alabama), while also adding their first two commitments of the 2024 cycle in five-star tight end Landon Thomas and four-star wide receiver Ny Carr.

Looking at the 2023 class however, Georgia added their second five-star prospect of the 2023 cycle in safety Joenel Aguero, as well as another key name in the secondary in four-star cornerback Daniel Harris. The Bulldogs were also a notable winner in the front seven as well, landing two of the nation’s top 2023 linebackers in four-star’s Raylen Wilson and Troy Bowles, as well as four-star defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett.

The Bulldogs also added two commits in the 2023 class on the offensive side of the ball in four-star offensive lineman Kelton Smith and three-star wide receiver Yazeed Haynes. Smith is Georgia’s second in-state offensive line commit of the cycle, while Haynes is a former Penn State commit.
