Ole Miss Football will have to replace two key names at the running back position this season as both Jerrion Ealy and Snoop Conner have since moved on to the NFL. A new looking Rebels backfield led by two transfer additions, what is the 2022 roster outlook for Ole Miss at the running back position?

Zach Evans

One of the headline names to transfer to Ole Miss during the offseason, Evans enters the 2022 campaign as arguably the headline name in the Rebels backfield.

A former five-star prospect in the 2020 class, Evans comes to Ole Miss after two seasons at TCU where he was an impact player for the Horned Frogs. Across that span, Evans rushed for a combined 1,063 yards and nine touchdowns on 146 attempts, while also having caught 18 passes for 206 yards and a score.

Entering his junior season, you could certainly make the argument that Evans is one of the top running backs in the SEC before even taking the field in Oxford. Coming off a 2021 campaign in which he rushed for 648 yards and five touchdowns as well, Evans is likely set to eclipse both of those numbers in a big way this season as the Rebels RB1.

Overall, expect a big 2022 season for Evans, and for the former five-star to fully emerge onto the national scene as one of college football’s top running backs.
