The other transfer addition at the running back position for the Rebels this offseason, Bentley comes to Ole Miss as one of the more experienced and accomplished RB2’s in the entire SEC.

Transferring from SMU, Bentley comes to Oxford after three seasons with the Mustangs, a span in which he rushed for a combined 1,559 yards and 15 touchdowns on 273 attempts, along with 41 receptions for 294 yards and two more scores. Included in that three-year span was also a strong 2020 campaign, one in which Bentley led the AAC in rushing with 913 yards and 11 touchdowns on 170 attempts.

As mentioned previously, Bentley is likely set to be the Rebels RB2 this season behind only Evans on the depth chart, but that does not mean that the junior will not see a notable amount of action. In fact, you could make an argument that Bentley will see a similar sample size to last season, a year in which he received 96 carries at SMU.

Overall, Bentley will play a key role in both the Rebels rushing and receiving game this season alongside Evans as one of the SEC’s top running back duos.
