Quarterback

Starter: Bryce Young

Backup: Jalen Milroe

One of the nation’s top players regardless of position, Young returns to Alabama for his junior season in 2022, coming off a 2021 campaign in which he won the Heisman Trophy passing for 4,872 yards with a 47:7 TD:INT.

Running Back

Starter: Jahmyr Gibbs

Backup: Trey Sanders/Jase McClellan

After transferring from Georgia Tech in the offseason, Gibbs likely takes over the Crimson Tide’s starting running back after accounting for 1,211 yards from scrimmage and seven total touchdowns a year ago. Alabama Football also has a few other names to know at running back, most notably Sanders and McClellan.

Wide Receiver

Starter: Jermaine Burton, Ja’Corey Brooks, Tyler Harrell

Backup: Christian Leary, Traeshon Holden, JoJo Earle

The Crimson Tide wide receiver room is as deep as any in the country, a group that will be led by offseason transfers in Burton and Harrell, as well as Brooks who enters his sophomore season. Alabama has numerous other names to know at wide receiver such as Leary, Holden, and Earle, as well as freshman Aaron Anderson, each of which could make a notable impact.

Tight End

Starter: Cameron Latu

Backup: Robbie Ouzts/Amari Niblack

Latu headlines the Crimson Tide’s tight end room coming off a career-year in which he had 26 receptions for 410 yards and eight touchdowns. Ouzts could also see a notable amount of time this season, as could Niblack, a four-star freshman out of Lakewood High School in Florida.

Offensive Line

Starter: Tyler Steen, Javion Cohen, Seth McLaughlin/Darrian Dalcourt, Emil Ekiyor Jr, JC Latham

Backup: Amari Kight/Tommy Brockermeyer, Damieon George Jr, Seth McLaughlin/Darrian Dalcourt, Tanner Bowles, Tyler Booker/Kendall Randolph

Returning names such as Ekiyor and Cohen will likely play key roles at the guard position, while Steen, an offseason transfer from Vanderbilt, could start at left tackle. The biggest question mark entering the year along the offensive line comes at center where McLaughlin and Dalcourt are competing for the starting job.
