Known to Alabama Football fans as “Mount Cody,” Terrence Cody is one of the greatest defensive tackles to ever play for the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban. A player who had a few memorable moments during his time in Tuscaloosa as well, here is a look back at the Alabama career of Cody.

Looking back at the Alabama Football career of Terrence Cody

Cody originally came to Alabama in the Crimson Tide’s 2008 recruiting class out of the JUCO ranks where he attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Rated as a three-star prospect, Cody was considered as one of the top JUCO defensive tackles in the 2008 class, and would go on to make an immediate impact with the Crimson Tide once in Tuscaloosa.

During that 2008 season, Cody would collect a total of 24 tackles for the Crimson Tide, along with 4.5 TFL and 0.5 sacks. Also forcing a fumble as well, Cody would receive consensus All-American honors in 2008 at the defensive tackle position, helping lead the Crimson Tide to a 12-2 record.

While his 2008 season was certainly special in its own right, Cody’s 2009 campaign however is what most Alabama fans may remember him by. A consensus All-American for the second consecutive season, Cody would collect a total of 28 tackles and six TFL for the Crimson Tide in 2009 to help lead Alabama to an undefeated 14-0 record and the BCS national championship.

Included in that 2009 season for Cody was also a memorable performance on special teams against rival Tennessee where he blocked a potential game-winning field goal from the Volunteers to preserve the Crimson Tide’s perfect season.

Cody would enter the 2010 NFL Draft at seasons end as well, bringing an end to his Alabama Football career. Across those two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Cody would collect a combined 52 tackles, 10.5 TFL, and 0.5 sacks, and would be selected with the No. 57 overall pick in that 2010 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens.

A one-time Super Bowl champion, Cody would play five seasons in the NFL with the Ravens from 2010-14, appearing in 57 career games. Across that span, Cody would collect a combined 87 tackles and four TFL.
