Alabama Football: 3 players set to breakout during 2022 season

The 2021 season saw a few breakout campaigns for some Alabama Football players in particular, most notably quarterback Bryce Young and tight end Cameron Latu.

Looking ahead to the 2022 season however, which players could potentially be next to take a similar jump in production for the Crimson Tide? (NOTE: This does not include true freshman or transfers, only returning players)

3 Alabama Football players set to breakout during 2022 season

Ja’Corey Brooks

2021 Stats: 15 receptions, 192 yards, 2 TD

A former five-star prospect in the 2021 class, Brooks began to emerge late last season for the Crimson Tide at wide receiver, catching a combined 10 passes during Alabama’s two CFP games against Cincinnati and Georgia. The sophomore is likely set to begin the 2022 season as a starter for the Crimson Tide, and could very easily top his 15 reception total from a year ago in a big way this fall.

JC Latham

2021 Stats: NA

Latham is also a former five-star prospect in the 2021 class, one who was considered as a top five overall player nationally. The sophomore was primarily a reserve along Alabama’s offensive line a year ago, and should emerge into a larger role this season, one in which the former five-star is the likely favorite to start at right tackle for the Crimson Tide entering the fall.

Jaylen Moody

2021 Stats: 11 tackles, 1 INT

A redshirt senior, Moody has primarily played a reserve/special teams role for the Crimson Tide across the last four seasons, a span in which he has collected a combined 45 tackles from 2018-21. Moody is likely considered as one of two starters at inside linebacker for Alabama entering the fall, and assuming the redshirt senior remains a starter throughout the year, should be set for a career-high in tackles this season.
