If you were to look for a potential sleeper team in the SEC East this season, Florida Football and new head coach Billy Napier might just be your answer. Returning multiple key names from last season at key positions, which breakout candidates could potentially help the Gators take the next jump in the SEC East this season?

3 Florida Football players set to breakout during 2022 season

Jalen Kimber

2021 Stats: 1 tackle

A former four-star prospect in the 2020 class, Kimber transferred to Florida from Georgia during the offseason, and is coming off a 2021 campaign in which the redshirt sophomore missed almost all of the year due to injury. Having collected a combined three tackles across his two seasons in Athens, Kimber should easily surpass that total in 2022 in a big way, a year in which the redshirt sophomore could be a key piece in the Gators secondary.

Tyreak Sapp

2021 Stats: NA

Sapp, a former four-star prospect, came to Gainesville as one of the top names in the Gators 2021 class, but would not see action with Florida a year ago, redshirting at seasons end. The redshirt freshman is likely a name to know along Florida’s defensive line this season however, a year in which Sapp could be set for a big breakout 2022 campaign with the Gators.

Jalen Lee

2021 Stats: 9 tackles, 1.5 TFL

While Sapp is a name to know along the Florida Football defensive line entering the year, the redshirt freshman is not the only player in that conversation however as the same can be said for Lee. Similar to Kimber, Lee was also a four-star prospect in the 2020 class, and has spent the previous two seasons at Florida collecting a combined 11 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and one sack during that span, one that included a career-high nine tackles a year ago.
