The kicking game will once again be a strength for Alabama Football in 2022 as the Crimson Tide return one of top kickers in the SEC. Who is that one name, who are the additional names to know for the Crimson Tide this season at the kicker position, and what role could each play in 2022?
Alabama Football 2022 Season Preview: Kickers
Will Reichard
Alabama Football’s primary kicker across each of the past three seasons, Reichard returns for his senior season in Tuscaloosa, once again cemented as the starting kicker for the Crimson Tide.
After not missing a field goal or extra point during the 2020 season, Reichard was once again among the conference’s top kickers a year ago, making 71-of-72 extra points, along with 22-of-28 field goal attempts. Across three seasons in Tuscaloosa combined as well, Reichard has made 176-of-178 career extra point attempts from 2019-21, as well as 40-of-49 field goals.
One of the more experienced kickers in the SEC, expect Reichard to once again be the Crimson Tide’s primary option at the position this season. The senior should also be one of the SEC’s top kickers in 2022, as well as a candidate to lead the conference in both extra points and field goals made.
Chase Allen
The backup kicker for the Crimson Tide this season is likely Allen, a junior who did not see time for Alabama a year ago. Allen did see time with the Crimson Tide in 2020 as a freshman however, with a majority of the time coming for Alabama on kickoffs.
Reid Schuback
The final kicker on Alabama Football’s 2022 roster is Schuback, a sophomore entering his second season in Tuscaloosa. Schuback did not see time with the Crimson Tide a year ago, and is likely third on the Alabama depth chart at kicker.
