Jake Johnson

The first of those three true freshmen for the Aggies at tight end is Johnson, a name that could very easily be Texas A&M’s top producer at the position.

A four-star prospect, Johnson comes to College Station as arguably the No. 1 tight end in the 2022 class out of Oconee County High School in Georgia. During his time at Oconee County, Johnson caught a total of 142 receptions from 2019-21, translating to 2,377 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Looking ahead to Johnson’s first season in College Station, the potential is certainly there for the freshman to be the top receiving option for the Aggies at tight end. At 6-foot-5, Johnson is not only a strong blocker for the position, but is a proven receiver at the high school ranks, and should be an instant-impact producer for Texas A&M at tight end to help replace Wydermyer.

As mentioned previously, Johnson isn’t the only true freshman to know for Texas A&M Football at tight end however.
