Donovan Green

The second of those true freshman is Green, a name that is not far behind Johnson in the conversation for the No. 1 tight end in the 2022 class.

A four-star prospect, Green comes to Texas A&M out of in-state Dickinson High School where the freshman also had a notable amount of receiving production from 2019-21, totaling 1,672 yards and 18 touchdowns on 87 receptions. Green could also play a significant role at tight end for the Aggies this season, and should be set for a strong freshman campaign in College Station.

Blake Smith

Another name returning for the Aggies this season at tight end is Smith, a former three-star prospect who enters his third season in College Station.

A redshirt sophomore, Smith saw his first action with the Aggies a year ago after redshirting the 2020 campaign, appearing in two games. Smith however did not record any stats for the Aggies a year ago, but could potentially see an increased role this season, one in which the redshirt sophomore is likely a part of Texas A&M’s tight end rotation.
