Since joining the SEC back in 2012, Missouri Football you could argue has not had a player step foot on campus as a freshman with more raw talent and potential than Luther Burden.

One of the highest-rated recruits to ever commit to Missouri, Burden comes to Columbia as a consensus five-star prospect, as well as a top five player nationally. Attending East Saint Louis High School in Illinois, Burden was also considered as the state’s top player, as well as arguably the No. 1 wide receiver in the entire 2022 class.

Simply put, Burden has everything needed to become a superstar for the Tigers from day one this season as a freshman. However, will that actually happen, and what potential role could Burden play for the Tigers this season?

When answering that question, it’s hard to not say yes. A player with an exciting skill-set at wide receiver, Burden could easily be the Tigers WR1 entering the fall, and is the likely favorite to lead Missouri in receiving this season.

Yes, Missouri does return a notable amount of production at the wide receiver position this season as Chritauskie Dove, Barrett Banister, Dominic Lovett, Mookie Cooper, and Chance Luper are all back in 2022. However, do not be surprised at all if Burden is the leader of this group this season in both receptions, yards, and even touchdowns, while also likely becoming a go-to target for quarterback Brady Cook very early in the year.

Now yes, time will obviously tell on just how big of an impact Burden makes at Missouri, both during his freshman year and beyond. However, don’t bet against the five-star being a superstar from day one in Columbia, with Burden potentially being one of the top freshman in college football this season.
