Vanderbilt Football as a team returns a notable amount of production from last season at a few key positions, most notably at quarterback. Vanderbilt Football 2022 Season Preview: Quarterbacks
Mike Wright
The starting quarterback for Vanderbilt Football entering the 2022 season is Wright, a junior who won the Commodores starting job during the offseason.
After seeing time as a freshman, Wright originally began the 2021 season as the Commodores backup, but took over as the Vanderbilt starter across the last five games of the year. Wright would see success at times as well at the helm of the Vanderbilt offense, passing for a combined 1,042 yards with an 8:6 TD:INT, along with 376 yards and an additional touchdown rushing.
Across his two seasons at Vanderbilt combined, Wright has thrown for a combined 1,093 yards with a 9:7 TD:INT, along with a 53.5 CMP% and 391 yards with two touchdowns rushing. Assuming Wright continues to improve on his numbers from last season as well, the junior should remain as the Commodores starter in 2022, giving Vanderbilt a true dual-threat option at quarterback, which could be a different look for the offense compared to previous years.
However, Wright is not the only name to know in the 2022 Vanderbilt Football quarterback room. In fact, the Commodores have one of the most experienced backups in the SEC, a name that is also likely to see a notable amount of time this season.
