Having lost both starters from a year ago in Nakobe Dean and Channing Tindall, Georgia Football will be taking the field week one with two new faces at inside linebacker. How will the Bulldogs replace one of the SEC’s top inside linebacker duos from a year ago, and which names could see the most time at the position in 2022?

Georgia Football 2022 Season Preview: Inside Linebackers

Jamon Dumas-Johnson

Arguably the headline name from this talented Georgia inside linebacker group is that of Dumas-Johnson, a sophomore who is likely set for a massive breakout 2022 season.

As a freshman last season, Dumas-Johnson saw time in all but one game for the Bulldogs, with his time on the field primarily coming in a special teams and reserve linebacker role. During that span, Dumas-Johnson would collect a total of 21 tackles with 2.5 TFL and two sacks, as well as an interception which he returned for a touchdown.

Entering the fall, Dumas-Johnson is likely set as one of two starters at inside linebacker for the Bulldogs, a position that was key to Georgia’s success a year ago. Because of this, the sophomore could be an important player for Georgia in 2022, one who could be one of the on-field leaders for the Bulldogs.

Expect a big breakout 2022 season for Dumas-Johnson, with the sophomore potentially becoming one of the top inside linebackers in the SEC East.
