When thinking of some of the best running backs in recent Arkansas Football history, Alex Collins is a name that quickly comes to mind. A player who rushed for 1,000+ yards in all three of his seasons with the Razorbacks, here is a look back at the Arkansas career of Collins.

Looking back at the Arkansas Football career of Alex Collins

Collins originally came to Arkansas in the Razorbacks 2013 recruiting class out of South Plantation High School in Florida. The top ranked player in that Arkansas 2013 class, Collins was considered as a four-star prospect and Top 50 national player, as well as one of the top running backs nationally.

The four-star would go on to make a significant impact from day one in Fayetteville as Collins would rush for a total of 1,026 yards and four touchdowns on 190 attempts as a freshman, while also catching 11 passes for 63 yards. Ranking Top 10 in the conference in rushing, Collins would be named the 2013 SEC Freshman of the Year at seasons end, as well as receive Freshman All-American and SEC All-Freshman honors.

Coming off that phenomenal freshman season, Collins would be set for similar success in 2014 as a sophomore, rushing for a total of 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns on 204 attempts. Also playing a role on special teams at times, Collins would rank top five in the SEC in both rushing yards and touchdowns, setting up what would be a special 2015 campaign for the Razorbacks running back.

In 2015, Collins would rush for a total of 1,577 yards and 20 touchdowns (No. 6 nationally) on 271 attempts, while also catching 13 passes for 95 yards. A Second Team All-SEC selection, Collins would rank third in the conference in both rushing yards and touchdowns, while his 5.8 YPC also ranked fifth in the SEC.

At the conclusion of his 2015 junior season, Collins would declare for the 2016 NFL Draft, and would be selected with the No. 171 overall pick in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks. This would end what was a memorable collegiate career for Collins with the Razorbacks, concluding his time at Arkansas rushing for a combined 3,703 yards and 36 touchdowns on 665 attempts.
