Vanderbilt Football beat Hawaii in a dominating performance for the team. The Commodores beat Hawaii, 63-10. Excluding an opening touchdown drive from the Rainbow Warriors, Vanderbilt dominated this game. Mike Wright Jr threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 163 rushing yards on 13 attempts. Vanderbilt had an amazing game running the ball. The SEC team had 404 rushing yards. Mike Wright led the way for the team in rushing.
Re’Mahn Davis had 87 yards rushing on 9 carries. That is an average of 9 yards per rush. He also had a rushing touchdown in the blowout.
Although Hawaii wasn’t very good in this game, they did have a good game running the ball. Dedrick Parson led the Rainbow Warriors in rushing with 82 yards on 13 carriers. His longest run of the day was 37 yards.
At halftime, it was 21-10. In the third quarter, Vanderbilt started to pull away. Vanderbilt scored 35 points in the third quarter. While most people had Vanderbilt winning this game (despite myself who actually had Hawaii winning in a blowout), no one could have seen this dominating performance coming from the Commodores.
Vanderbilt Football’s win over Hawaii is a good turn for the program
This is quite impressive considering Vanderbilt is the lowest of the low in the SEC. Despite all the problems that Hawaii had this offseason (the highest amount of outgoing transfers, mistreatment of players), it still seemed like that Hawaii was better than Vanderbilt. Also, you have to consider the fact that this game was in Hawaii. It seems that traveling early was good for Commodores, as they were adjusted to the time difference.
Considering the external factors in the game, this is a good turn for the SEC program. Vanderbilt’s next game is against Elon. That is a very winnable game. It’s very possible that Vanderbilt could have a two-game winning streak. For a program like theirs, that’s a really good achievement.
While this week could be the highlight of their season, this is a very good achievement for Clark Lea. Although he is very far away from his ultimate goal of making Vanderbilt the best team in the country, tonight was a good start to year two of the Lea era in Nashville.
