7. Ole Miss Rebels

Week 1 Opponent: Troy

Ranked as the No. 21 team in the nation entering the year, Ole Miss comes in at No. 7 in our preseason SEC Football power rankings coming off one of their best single seasons in recent years.

Speaking of that season, the Rebels would finish 10-3 a year ago in what was year two of the Lane Kiffin era in Oxford. Also posting a 6-2 record in SEC Football play, this was the Rebels best season since Ole Miss finished with an identical overall and conference record back in 2015.

Despite having lost multiple key names off that same team, there is still reason to believe that Ole Miss will be one of the better teams in the SEC this season, in part due to their numerous transfer additions. One of the conference’s biggest offseason portal winners, the Rebels added multiple key names that could make an impact in 2022, a group that includes Zach Evans, Jaxson Dart, Michael Trigg, and more.

Having made a bowl game in each of the first two seasons of the Kiffin era, Ole Miss is likely set to make it three straight this season. Yes, there could be some bumps in the road due to the Rebels having so many new players, but the potential is certainly there for Ole Miss to be a team to watch for in the SEC, led by what should be an electric offense once again.

Expect Ole Miss to cruise to a week one win as well, with the Rebels likely beating Troy by multiple touchdowns.
