SEC Football: Preseason predictions for the 2022 season
By Matt Melton
SEC Coach of the Year
Who do we think will be named the 2022 SEC Coach of the Year at seasons end?
Matt Melton – Nick Saban, Alabama
Saban won the SEC Coach of the Year back in 2020, and assuming that Alabama is as good as expected this season, he will be the favorite in 2022. There could be a few other names to watch for however, most notably Georgia’s Kirby Smart (2021 winner), Tennessee’s Josh Heupel, and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher.
Jonathan Lurensky – Shane Beamer, South Carolina
Look for Shane Beamer to win SEC Coach of the Year. The Gamecocks will have a very good season in his second year coaching the team. Look for the Gamecocks to make a bowl game behind their new QB Spencer Rattler.
Patrick Previty – Brian Kelly, LSU
I’ll double down here. If I predict LSU to finish second in the west, then that puts Brian Kelly in a spot to win SEC Coach of the Year.
