SEC Football: Florida, South Carolina among biggest August recruiting winners
By Matt Melton
Compared to previous months, SEC Football had a bit of a quieter August when it came to recruiting, in particular when it came to adding commitments. Even despite that however, there were a few notable winners on the recruiting trail, so let’s take a look at a few of those teams (NOTE: Rankings courtesy of 247Sports Composite).

Florida Gators
August Commits:
- 4-star LB Myles Graham
- 4-star DL Kelby Collins
- 4-star DL Will Norman
- 4-star DL Kamran James
- 4-star LB Jaden Robinson
One of the first notable SEC Football recruiting winners was Florida, as the Gators added a total of five commitments during August. Of those five, each were rated as a four-star prospect, with only one name in this group coming from the Gators 2024 class in linebacker Myles Graham, Florida’s first commitment of that cycle.
Looking at the five commitments overall, each come on the defensive side of the ball, with two coming from in-state in defensive lineman Kamran James and Jaden Robinson. This continued the in-state momentum for Florida on the recruiting trail as well, as the Gators 2023 class now holds a total of 20 commits, 16 of which come from the Sunshine State.
As for the two out-of-state, the Gators highest-rated commit in their 2023 class comes from four-star Kelby Collins, a defensive lineman out of Gardendale High School in Alabama. Florida also added another notable out-of-state defensive lineman in Will Norman, one of Maryland’s top players out of national power St. Frances Academy.
