South Carolina Gamecocks

August Commits:

  • 4-star DL Zavion Hardy
  • 4-star EDGE Desmond Umeozulu
  • 4-star DL Xzavier McLeod
  • 4-star OT Oluwatosin Babalade
  • 3-star ATH Vicari Swann
  • 3-star S Cameron Upshaw

The other notable SEC Football recruiting winner during August was South Carolina, as the Gamecocks landed a conference-high six commitments, each of which came in the 2023 class. Similar to Florida previously as well, the Gamecocks added mainly on defense, in particular the defensive line.

When looking at this group, South Carolina added three of their current top four commits during August in defensive linemen Zavion Hardy, Desmond Umeozulu, and Xzavier McLeod, with McLeod being one of the top in-state players in the 2023 class. As for the other four-star addition, the Gamecocks added offensive lineman Oluwatosin Babalade, who becomes South Carolina’s second highest-rated 2023 offensive line commit behind only four-star Markee Anderson.

The Gamecocks also added yet another safety to their 2023 class in three-star Cameron Upshaw, as well as a two-way player in Vicari Swann. Swann is one of the top two-way players in Georgia who had nearly 900 receiving yards, along with 28 tackles, a year ago.
