SEC Football Game Today: Auburn vs Mercer Line, Predictions, Odds, TV Channel & Live Stream for SEC Football

Entering year two under head coach Bryan Harsin, Auburn begins its 2022 SEC Football season with a home matchup Saturday as the Tigers host Mercer.

Coming off a 6-7 campaign a year ago, which also happened to be the Tigers first losing season since 2012, Auburn will undoubtedly be looking for a bounce back 2022. Tied for last in the SEC West with a 3-5 record in conference play, this was the Tigers second consecutive six-win season, making the 2022 season an important one for Auburn.

The Tigers will return a few key names from last season however, a group headlined by running back Tank Bigsby. Expect Auburn to feature Bigsby often in this matchup as well, with others such as TJ Finley, John Samuel Shenker, Jarquez Hunter, Derick Hall, and more headlining the Tigers returning names this season.

As for Mercer, the Bears opened their 2022 season a week ago as they routed Morehead State 63-13. This was certainly an impressive overall performance for the Bears, in particular offensively where Mercer gained a total of 625 yards, while holding Morehead State to only 278 total.

Leading Mercer offensively is quarterback Fred Payton, who threw for four touchdowns a week ago, while running back Austin Douglas is also coming off a strong performance where he rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns on five attempts. Ty James is also a name to know for the Bears offense at receiver coming off a three touchdown performance a week ago, while the Mercer defense was also strong.

Auburn vs Mercer SEC Football Prediction

Auburn has historically owned the head-to-head matchup against Mercer, and the Tigers should pick up another win here at home. Expect Auburn to win by multiple touchdowns, in part due to a big day on the ground from the Tigers run game. Prediction: Auburn 49, Mercer 10

The week one matchup between Auburn and Mercer will be played on Saturday, September 3 from Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, AL. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM ET, with the game available on either SEC Network+ or ESPN+.
