After an impressive win a week ago as the lone SEC Football team to play a Week 0 game, Vanderbilt returns home for a matchup with Elon.

As mentioned previously, Vanderbilt (1-0) began their 2022 season with a dominant 63-10 win at Hawaii, a game in which the Commodores amassed 601 total yards of offense. This marked only the Commodores first season-opening win since 2018, with Vanderbilt now looking at start a season 2-0 for the first time since that same 2018 campaign.

The Commodores offense is led by quarterback Mike Wright, a junior who accounted for a combined 300+ total yards and four total touchdowns a year ago. Defensively, Vanderbilt is led by defensive back Max Worship, who leads the Commodores with seven total tackles, while Tyson Russell is also coming off a strong game in the secondary.

Elon on the other hand will be opening their 2022 season Saturday, coming off a 2021 season in which the Phoenix went 6-5. This matchup at Vanderbilt is undoubtedly the biggest on Elon’s 2022 schedule as well, as well as the first of six road games for the Phoenix this year.

Looking at the roster however, Elon lost a notable amount of production on offense, but does return a few key names such as McKinley Witherspoon, Jackson Parham, and more. The Phoenix defense also returns a notable amount of production, with this matchup against the Vanderbilt offense certainly a test for Elon in week one.

Vanderbilt vs Elon SEC Football Prediction

Vanderbilt certainly impressed offensively a week ago against Hawaii, and that should continue here against Elon in a big way. Expect another big game from Mike Wright, and for the Commodores to start the season 2-0. Prediction: Vanderbilt 49, Elon 7

Vanderbilt vs Elon will take place from FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, TN. Played on Saturday, September 3, kickoff is set for 7:00 PM ET, with the game available on either SEC Network+ or ESPN+.
