SEC Football: Florida, Tennessee rise in Week 2 2022 power rankings
By Matt Melton
4. Arkansas Razorbacks
Previous Ranking: 4
While their No. 4 ranking did not change, Arkansas did however further cement themselves as one of SEC Football’s top teams with their week one Top 25 home win over Cincinnati, 31-24. A big reason for their success on Saturday as well was quarterback KJ Jefferson, as the redshirt junior began his 2022 season with a four total touchdown performance, three of which came through the air.
As mentioned previously, Arkansas kicks off SEC Football play during week two as the Razorbacks host South Carolina. Arkansas will certainly be favored going into the contest, and should the Razorbacks play the way they did Saturday, they will be 2-0 to start the season going into week three.
3. Texas A&M Aggies
Previous Ranking: 3
Texas A&M kicked off Saturday afternoon for the conference as the Aggies shutout Sam Houston 31-0 in College Station, holding the Bearkats to 198 yards of total offense. While the Aggies defense was certainly a notable takeaway, the quarterback position was also a big talking point as Haynes King made the start, throwing for 364 yards and three touchdowns, as well as two interceptions.
As for week two, the Aggies have a tougher test this Saturday as Texas A&M will host Appalachian State, a team who scored 61 points on North Carolina in week one. It is a game that Texas A&M should win, but is also one that could be high scoring between two talented offensive teams.
