SEC Football: Florida, Tennessee rise in Week 2 2022 power rankings
By Matt Melton
2. Georgia Bulldogs
Previous Ranking: 2
Even after one of the nation’s most impressive week one performances in which the defending national champions routed Oregon 49-3, Georgia still remains at No. 2. However, that is certainly not a bad thing by any means as the Bulldogs absolutely dominated a preseason Top 15 team, showing that there is virtually no drop-off after losing a significant amount of production to the NFL.
The Bulldogs should continue to post impressive performances in week two as well, with Georgia hosting Samford on Saturday afternoon. Expect the Bulldogs to win big once again, and to remain among the top of the power rankings entering their SEC Football opener in week three.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Previous Ranking: 1
The Crimson Tide held the No. 1 overall spot in our preseason SEC Football power rankings, and simply did nothing to lose the top spot in week one. That is because Alabama routed Utah State at home 55-0, led by 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young accounting for six total touchdowns, as well as a defense that held the Aggies to only 136 yards of total offense.
Alabama now turns their attention to a week two trip to Austin as the Crimson Tide will face the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide will be favored going into the contest, and could use this matchup at Texas to make a statement on just how good this 2022 Alabama team can be.
