The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Oregon Ducks, 49-3. This game was a blowout from the beginning. Georgia’s defense still proved itself to be dominant having two interceptions and only allowing three points, while also forcing Oregon to punt three times in this game. Georgia’s defense was so dominant that Oregon either punted the ball or lost the ball on downs in the second half.

That was almost the same story in the first half, but Oregon did score their first points of the game on a field goal in the second quarter. Stetson Bennett looked very improved from last year. Bennett threw for 368 yards on 25 completions. Additionally, he threw for two touchdowns. The senior went to Kenny McIntosh early and often.

McIntosh had 9 receptions for 117 yards. The wide receiver-running back hybrid also had a somewhat solid 18 yards rushing on 5 attempts. The passing game was more important in this week’s victory over Oregon. Overall, Georgia threw the ball for 439 yards. Comparably, Georgia ran for 132 yards.

If Bennett is able to throw the ball as he did in Saturday’s victory over Oregon, the Bulldogs will be hard to stop. It would be hard to stop a passing attack as we saw on Saturday considering Georgia has one of the best offensive lines in the country.

Bo Nix struggled in his first game since transferring to Oregon from Auburn. Nix threw two interceptions and only threw for 173 yards. Obviously, the offense struggled in Nix’s debut game for the Ducks.

Georgia proves they are still dominant with Week 1 win over Oregon

This was not the start that Dan Lanning wanted in his first game coaching the Ducks. While the former Georgia defensive coordinator probably did not expect to beat the Bulldogs in his debut, I think he expected this game to be competitive. This game was obviously not.

Considering the opponent they played, Georgia looked like the most dominant team in the country in Week 1. While Oregon might not be as good as their preseason ranking suggests, this is a dominant victory for the Bulldogs. Despite losing tons of great players to the NFL Draft, the Bulldogs defense looked amazing. Georgia is the best team in the country after Week 1 of the college football season.
