Arguably the biggest game involving an SEC Football team in Week 2 is one of the earliest on Saturday as Alabama travels to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns. A matchup featuring two of college football’s most recognizable brands, this is however only the tenth meeting ever between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns, as well as the first since Alabama defeated Texas 37-21 back in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.

Top-ranked Alabama (1-0) began their 2022 season last Saturday night with a dominant 55-0 win over Utah State inside Bryant-Denny Stadium, a game in which the Crimson Tide out-gained the Aggies 559-136 in total yardage. An overall impressive performance for Alabama, the Crimson Tide were led by 2021 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Bryce Young who accounted for six total touchdowns, five of which came through the air.

Joining Young on the Alabama offense when it came to impressive Week 1 performances was running back Jahmyr Gibbs who rushed for 93 yards on nine carries, while Traeshon Holden, Jermaine Burton, and Jase McClellan each caught two touchdowns apiece. Defensively, Alabama was led by linebacker Jaylen Moody with a team-high six tackles, while others such as Will Anderson Jr, Chris Braswell, Brian Branch, and more also enjoyed notable performances.

Texas (1-0) on the other hand also began their 2022 season with a home win last Saturday as the Longhorns defeated Louisiana-Monroe 46-10, out-gaining the Warhawks 383-259 in total yardage. In what-was the first start for quarterback Quinn Ewers in a Texas uniform, the former five-star threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, while the Longhorns also had three different running backs find the end zone in Bijan Robinson, Jonathan Brooks, and Roschon Johnson.

Joining that group on the Longhorns offense is a talented group of wide receivers led by Xavier Worthy, while Ja’Tavion Sanders is also coming off the most impressive Week 1 performance of that group, accumulating 85 yards and a touchdown on six receptions. The Texas defense is led by an experienced linebacker in Demarvion Overshown, along with others such as Barryn Sorrell, JD Coffey III, Devin Richardson, and more.

Alabama vs Texas Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under

Alabama vs Texas SEC Football Prediction

One of the most anticipated non-conference SEC Football matchups of the year, Alabama is considered as a big favorite going into this game, and rightfully so. The Crimson Tide you could say are the deeper and more talented team on paper, and even despite this game being played on the road, are the clear favorite going in.

Overall, look for the Crimson Tide to make a statement in this game, and to ultimately win by at-least two touchdowns. Yes, this game could be close at times, in particular in the first half, but expect Alabama to pull away in the second half, and for the Crimson Tide to move to 2-0. Prediction: Alabama 38, Texas 17
