A matchup between two former Big 12 foes, Missouri travels to Kansas State on Saturday in one of the few notable SEC vs out-of-conference matchups set for this week. The 98th career meeting between the Tigers and Wildcats (Missouri leads all-time series 60-32-5), this is however also the first meeting since 2011, the year prior to Missouri joining SEC Football back in 2012.

Missouri (1-0) opened their 2022 season with a 52-24 home win over Louisiana Tech during Week 1, a game in which the Tigers out-gained the Bulldogs in total yardage, 558-344. The Tigers got an impressive performance from wide receiver Luther Burden in the game as the freshman found the end zone twice in his collegiate debut, while Missouri as a whole rushed for five total touchdowns on the ground.

Alongside Burden at the wide receiver position were notable Week 1 performances from Dominic Lovett and Barrett Banister, while the ground game featured quarterback Brady Cook, as well as others including Cody Schrader, Nathaniel Peat, and more. Defensively, the trio of Ty’ron Hopper, Jaylon Carlies, and Joseph Charleston all enjoyed big games, while Martez Manuel collected a team-high three TFL.

Kansas State (1-0) also began their season with a win last week as the Wildcats defeated North Dakota 34-0. An impressive performance in the run game, Kansas State rushed for a total of 297 yards and four touchdowns, and were led by running back Deuce Vaughn who accounted for 126 yards and a score on 18 carries.

Joining Vaughn on the Wildcats offense is Nebraska transfer quarterback Adrian Martinez, as well as others including DJ Giddens, Malik Knowles, and more. On defense, the Wildcats collected a combined four sacks a week ago, and were led in tackles by the duo of Austin Moore and Jake Clifton.

Missouri vs Kansas State Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under

Missouri vs Kansas State SEC Football Prediction

This game will likely be close throughout, with the biggest storyline being if Missouri’s defense can slow down the Kansas State offense, in particular the running game with Vaughn. The Tigers are certainly capable of picking up the road win, but I’ll say that Kansas State wins a close one due to a late score in the second half. Prediction: Missouri 21, Kansas State 28
