12. Auburn Tigers

Previous Ranking: 12

Auburn remains at the No. 12 spot after advancing to 2-0 this past Saturday, picking up a win at home over San Jose State, 24-16. Even despite this win, this was not necessarily the most convincing victory for the Tigers as Auburn actually trailed 10-7 at halftime, and struggled with the passing game by only throwing for 168 total yards.

Next up for Auburn in Week 3 however is undoubtedly their toughest test yet, as the Tigers will host Penn State inside Jordan-Hare Stadium in a rematch of the Nittany Lions 28-20 win a year ago in Beaver Stadium. In what is one of SEC Football’s top Week 3 contests, Auburn will have to have more success throwing the ball Saturday if they want to start 3-0.

11. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 11

South Carolina also remains at the No. 11 spot as the Gamecocks fell on the road to Arkansas 44-30 over the weekend. A game in which the Gamecocks never led, South Carolina however struggled in a few key areas during their Week 2 contest, most notably by giving up 295 yards rushing to the Razorbacks, as well as committing three turnovers.

Now 1-1, next up for South Carolina is a home matchup with Georgia, who enter Week 3 ranked as the No. 1 team in the country. The Gamecocks will not be favored entering this contest, and will need to play their best game yet should they want to upset the Bulldogs on their home field.
